Off-line Backup
Offline backup is method used to store files for later retrieval in the event of hardware, accidental deletion, or from a network so they will be accessible even when it is not connected to the network they are stored on. It can be FULL, INCREMENTAL, or SELECTIVE file backup. In FULL Mode the entire drive is copied. In INCREMENTAL mode ONLY the files that have changed since the last backup will be backed up. SELECTIVE file backup is the individual selection of files and/or folders to backup. In standard backup operation a FULL backup is performed followed by an INCREMENTAL backup. This method is used when a constant backup is needed as system data files are changing constantly and it is important to maintain a reliable backup. FULL back up can be used when changes to over system occurs very little and all that is needed is to maintain a working copy in the event of a drive failure. In SELECTIVE file backup is best for those who just prefer to backup specific folders and/or files. This can include documentation, digital audio files, digital video files, and etc.
