Custom Computer Consulting Wired Network Installation

If additional coverage is required in an addition to the primary wireless coverage (i.e. building or residence), such as an expanded property or other building structures specially design Wi-Fi AP device can be installed. These units are specially design for harsh weather environments and provide extended coverage by using higher gain antenna to receive and repeat local transmissions. They can be used as an AP, Repeater, Gateway, or Bridge to connect to both a LAN as well as a WAN (internet). Many of these devices use a PoE (Power Over Ethernet). A small power injector that supplies power to the device via the network cable. The PoE is ideal for areas that have no access to regular power outlet.

They come in different varieties, single, dual band, or combination of both bands covering either 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz or both frequencies. Also many have different features, and functionary to the devices. To increase either their range of area of coverage external (weather proof fiberglass) antennas, either Omni or Directional with increase in sensitive (ranging from 8 db to 12db in gain) can be added to allow for greater sensitivity. Directional allows for more of RF focus while Omni is design to provide 360 degree coverage.

These system can be used as follows

Wi-Fi station, a technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data wireless using radio waves over a computer network, including high speed internet connections.

Hot Spot which offers internet access over a wireless network through the use of a router connected to a link to an internet service provider.

AirPort, Airport Extreme is an apple product brand using Wi-Fi protocols (802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n). The product sold by apple compress of a number of wireless routers, and wireless cards.

Possible scenarios involving the use of outside Wi-Fi, Hot Spot, or Apple Airport may be needed:

Bullet Point
Large areas (i.e. backyards, fields, farms)
Networking of buildings (i.e. garage, workshops, pole barns, and etc.)
Sharing access between two residence
Bullet Point Mobile Homes
Bullet Point Medical Offices.
Hospitals
Education (K-12, college and universities)
Hotels
Marinas
Public parks & recreational areas
Camp grounds
Apartment buildings
Restaurants
Shopping Malls

Long Range Wi-Fi devices can also be used on non-stationary platforms
Campers of all sizes such as light weight, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and RV (motorized and towable). Even recreation boats we can install long range Wi-Fi to increase your range to local area hot spots as well as to provide bridge to a local hot spot that may be providing open internet access.

Extended Wi-Fi Usage/Advantages

Bullet Point
Security Monitoring System (i.e. wireless cameras, sensors)
Weather devices (for monitoring outside weather)
Bullet Point Smart applications (i.e. I-phone, I-pad, I-pod, smartphones, smart table).
Multimedia Device (that support Wi-Fi).

Special Features

Captive Portal feature can be added if requested. Captive Portal forces an http client on a network to see a special web page (usually for authentication purposes) before using the internet normally. This is normally used in a commercial environment or organization situation such as a camp ground, public park, or marine.

For those requiring multi internet sources, Wi-Fi, Cellular, VST, or Fleet Broadband a special devices can be installed to accommodate all these protocols and enable a shared network to be created.

External Wireless Devices Differences

Bullet Point
Use of high power radio transmitter
Use of larger External Antennas (directional and/or Omni patterns)
Bullet Point Higher Gain Antennas w/capabilities of adding even higher gain antennas which support both omni and direction signal patterns.
Designed for harsh outdoor environments using specialize exterior shells.
Ability to mount in higher location giving better clear to sight to weaker signals

Custom Computer Consulting recommends in most cases using dual band radio units which support both the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands. Also, a combination of different wireless devices may be necessary as many have different purposes they serve. An evaluation of the customers needs along with a site view will help us to determine the necessary equipment. We will work with you to determine the best available options to fit your particular needs and budget concerns. Each situation will be different so prices will vary depending on the job.

Systems we use include but not exclusive are the EnGenuis, Hawk, and Cisco products.
