

CCC - Interior or Exterior Installation Methods
The overall interior or exterior structure of the wall will determine the most feasible way to install the network lines. At Custom Computer Consulting we use the following procedures dealing with different materials such as plaster, drywall, wood panel, plywood, brick, block, and concrete.
New Construction
It is always best to run any network cable during any new construction or remodeling as it reduce the TIME and COST. . Even, if you are not going to use it immediately. This should occur prior to any wall being fasten to the wall studs. The wire is run between or along the wall studs to where the network outlet will be located. Markings are made on the stud to indicate where the contractor can drill a hole and stick the wire through he hole. If wire is not able to be run immediately due to time constrants other factdors, flex conduilts can be run between the walls into rectiple boxes. This save time in running cable trhough the walls, using a fish hook, and pulling the cable thorugh the wall. It is fast and efficient way of installing the wire after the wall has been put up.
Standard Method
The standard method is running the wire behind the interior of the walls and cutting out a space big enough to mount a box within the interior of the wall. This method is cosmetic makes everything look good as all the wires and boxes are behind the wall leaving only a faceplate with the connection. This method can increase installation time as it requires you to cut into the wall, and using fish hook to pull the wire through the wall. Complications can arise such as fire blocks, fiberglass insulation, and other obstacles hidden within the interior of the walls that can hinder the cable from passing through. This will requires extra time as it may require additional access points to be created to allow the cable to be fed through the remaining part of the wall.
Raceways
An alternative method, other than running wires behind the exterior walls of the house, we can use what is known as raceway wire molding perfect for concealing multiple cords, wires, and cables. All design to handle the management of all your wires. We can install both plastic and metal raceway outside the exterior of the wall as it includes the raceway, 90 degree turns, end caps, splice joint, T’s, and outside corners. It includes as well the external boxes that hold the wires and the faceplate that houses the connectors. This method is easier as it does not require having to penetrate the interior walls filled with installation and run wires though such observe measure to run wires between walls compacted with installation. It requires only a hole large enough to fit through the needed wires and is usually located either at the ceiling or base of the floor. No other holes are usually drilled though the walls. The only hole that is that of a screw used to mount the raceway along the wall. The plastic raceways can be installed using either double sided tape on the back and/or screws to reinforce it. The metal raceway use screws to mount on it on the wall along with holly wall arches if studs cannot be used. Standard colors are ivory or white, metal or plastic. School classrooms tend to use them as many of their buildings are constructed of block. They use metal instead of plastic as it more durable.
DRILLED Hole
This is perhaps the simplest method. We drill a hole the size of the ethernet cable and feed it directly through either a wall or floor. It is simply and fast and can be used in combination with the other methods already mentioned. This method allows for easy repair and is less intrusive. This method is used by your cable company installers. Cable is secure outside the wall, leaving only the hole used to feed the wire through.
Interior Ventilation Ducts
Using existing heating/air conditioning duct work. This is another alternative where by the ethernet cable is feed through the duck work. When choosing this method we prefer to use shielded burial type cable due to the various temperature changes that can occur within the air vent. (duct work) .
Advantages
Less evasive. No cutting of holes the size of a standard 110 AC outlet. |

INSTALLATION
Installation is based on a per node install. All wires are run from each client or device to a patch bay, then to a network device, such as routers, switches, and access points may be required to complete the network installation. It does not include the cost of the wire,
connectors, module jacks, mounting cases, and face plates. A standard 12 to 24 patch bay is installed along with a network switch 8 to 16 port in residential environment. For larger groups we use 48 patch bays with 48 port switches.. The routers either wireless and/or wired have 4 to 8 ports. We use all high quality components. All cables are identified with ID tags and are bonded together using Velcro straps.
PRE-EXISTING LINES
When possible Custom Computer Consulting will attempt to use preexisting lines already installed within the wall. This can include cable lines, phones lines, speaker lines, and so on -- AVOIDING the use of Electrical Outlet due to possible interferences.
CCC - Recommendations
We suggest using a combination of both wired and wireless network as they reduce the reliance on a specific network. Desktop and laptops reserve for wired network while smart devices, tablets, and other portable device can be dedicated to a wireless network. This only a general rule and will always depend on your present and future needs.
