Custom Computer Consulting offers a variety of configurations associated with your computer’s internal drive. The
computer hard drive service many purposes. It not only holds the main operating system but as well contains software applications. It further provides storage for important business and personal information. This is why it is important to configure your computer’s hard drive in the purpose you intend to use it. CCC will assist our client's in determining the appropriate configuration so as to get the maximum efficient and performance level as it relates to STORAGE (capacity) and RW (read/write) access.
Services applies to both HDD & SSD
Adding & Replacing Drives (adding additional drive to increase storage capacity or replace old out-of-date drive
that are either defective or have reached their storage capacity) |
|
|---|---|
Multiple Drive Installation Setup (Installing and configuring more then one drive to serve multiple purposes. To
handle additional operating system, storage capacity, or redundant backup (i.e. RAID 5, 10)). |
|
Multiple Operating System Configurations w/ boot up options (allows the use of multiple operating system on
a single computer system). |
|
Partition (Resize, Delete, & add) (Resize, delete, and added partition as needed for a host of reasons) |
|
Unallocated Drive Space (To increase efficiency in overall drive performance, especially to SSD drives. This is
is accomplished by reduce the drive size by 20% or more.. depending on the initial size of the drive. By decrease
the size of drive you increase the read and write when accessing the drive.) |
|
Optimization (Over a period time, files become scattered throughout a hard drive platter instead of one
Continuous location. Fragmentation is caused when information is deleted from a hard drive and small gaps are
left behind to be filled by new data. As new data is saved to the computer it is placed in these gaps, if the gaps are
too small the remainder of what needs to be saved is stored in remaining gaps. This can cause the drive to become
slow in response time, creating a lag time or sluggish feeling.) |
|
Formatting Drive to specific standards (FAT,FAT16,FAT32,NTFS,FPS, & etc) a process of preparing the disk to hold data. |
|
Disk Drive Sectors (Advance Formatting) (512E(Emulation), 4kn(native), & 4kr(ready) Drives will contain an AF
logo that can support advancing formatting. Partition alignment tools (i.e. paragon) are used to assure in the partitions correct alignment. Windows XP & Vista are not advance format aware. Historically, hard disk drives (HDDs)
have used 512-byte sectors; however, this sector size is now limiting HDD capacity. To address this limitation, the
industry is moving Advanced Format drives with 4096-byte (4-KB) sectors – eight times larger than current drive
technology. With 4-KB sectors, less space is wasted on the physical media, making the drive easier to manufacture
and able to support higher capacities. |
**Note: It is important to understand that some of these procedure may require data to be copied and transferred to a temporary storage until modification can be performed. Those that can be performed by specialize software will take less time.
CCC - Service Time
The Service Time will depend on the service being performed. Those that do not require backup and restoring the data will take less to accomplish.
